IOSH Managing Safely Refresher Course

DURATION: 1 DAY

PRICE: £328+ VAT

AIM:

IOSH Managing Safely Refresher course, run by Make UK's experienced professional trainers, is a one-day course for delegates who have already completed the full Managing Safely® course. Delegates get to refresh their knowledge on key parts of Managing Safely by relating them to a plan-do-check-act safety and health management system, with leadership at the heart of it all.

Managing Safely Refresher is a practical classroom based course, with step-by step guidance and a clear business focus. The format and content keep your staff interested and stimulated throughout the course – critical to getting safety and health embedded across the whole organisation.

What does the business get?

• peace of mind, knowing that your staff have had refresher training and are up to date with their safety and health knowledge

• very little ‘downtime’ – the programme can be delivered flexibly so that it suits your business

• efficient and effective learning – we have piloted the course materials to make sure they work in practice

• globally-recognised, respected and certificated training for your managers and supervisors.

Managing Safely Refresher covers…

Thinking back - Delegates reflect on what they took away from the full Managing Safely course. They will also revisit the key reasons for managing safely and recap some of the key terms in an engaging and participative way.

Leadership - Why leadership is important, and how to create a positive safety culture.

Plan - What is a safety and health policy and what does it include? How to implement the policy.

Do - Delegates undertake a risk assessment exercise. What are the best ways to communicate the findings and the safety and health plan to the workforce?

Check - What types of data are there? What can be measured and how does this help in seeing if ‘the plan’ is implemented and working?

Act - Why it is essential to review performance, act on lessons learned and strive to improve continually. Delegates then reflect on what they have learned and how they will use this in their workplace.

Learner-centred approach

The course uses an interactive case study to apply refreshed knowledge to the plan-do check-act model and then link it back to the workplace. Learners will discover what a safety and health policy looks like, come up with ideas to influence safety culture and select the best communication methods to engage a workforce. Successful delegates are awarded an IOSH Managing Safely Refresher certificate.

What results can I expect?

• greater productivity, from fewer hours lost due to sickness and accidents

• improved company-wide safety awareness culture and appreciation of safety measures

• active staff involvement to improve the workplace

• enhanced reputation within the supply chain.
