Profile
Can you briefly describe your career journey prior to joining WYMS?
I started in retail before pivoting to Digital Marketing – starting as an apprentice managing branding and socials and worked my way to Marketing Co-ordinator at another company in the manufacturing industry, where I began learning about this sector and gained some experience in events, usually as an exhibitor, as well as managing contractors and learning to spin a lot of plates as a sole marketer in an organisation. Then, I came to WYMS and was handed a lot of responsibility overseeing all of our marketing and events. This is my third role marketing for an SME, and I couldn’t see myself doing anything else.
What attracted you to work at WYMS?
I attended National Manufacturing Day 2024 as an exhibitor and loved the idea behind pulling together the regional manufacturing community to achieve something so far beyond simply bringing in more business and genuinely making a difference to the sector.
What do you enjoy most about your role or working at WYMS?
The level of interaction with different companies and individuals- customers, supporters, and partners. Often, marketing is a role that is one-to-many and not necessarily customer facing, so I’m pleasantly surprised by how many people I get to speak to and learn from.
I also love that everything we do is focused on making a difference and supporting an industry with so much heritage and local pride.
Do you have a fun fact or personal motto you’d like to share?
Always try to be nice, but never fail to be kind.
It’s from doctor who, I interpret it as- always try to help others- but above all, approach every interaction with politeness, respect, and an open mind.
What’s your favourite place in West Yorkshire?
Anywhere with a view of fields and greenery. Not hard to come by!
