Overview

Dimensional measurement poses a huge challenge for UK manufacturers. Even features that seem simple to measure - like a cylindrical hole - can lead to inconsistent results across the supply chain due to differences in metrology methods used.

These inconsistencies cost time, money and affect trust, as well as compromising interoperability. This workshop, delivered by the National Physical Laboratory’s (NPL) Manufacturers Measurement Network, is designed to help manufacturers overcome these challenges. Through a guided roundtable format, we will:

  • Explore real-world measurement issues using non-proprietary drawings
  • Discuss best practice strategies for dimensional measurement and tolerancing
  • Provide context on international standards such as ISO 1101 and ASME Y14.5, which define how tolerances are specified on drawings to ensure parts function correctly
  • Gather your input to influence national research and future standards development

Why attend?

  • Gain practical knowledge to improve measurement processes
  • Reduce waste and drive continuity across your supply chain
  • Network with peers and contribute to a growing Special Interest Group
  • Influence future standards and access funding opportunities
