CNC Turning: Introduction to Tooling and Work Holding
This course is perfect for those with experience in a workshop environment, and experience as a CNC Machine operator.
The half-day course takes place in collaboration with Colchester Machine Tool Solutions and combines theoretical learning and hands on instruction at the machine, and has been developed and delivered by an experienced shopfloor worker and qualified trainer with 40+ years of experience in CNC and manual milling and turning.
This module covers:
- Qualified tooling and its application on a CNC Lathe
- Tool geometry selection for different external and internal operations
- Negative and positive rake machining
- Introduction to different carbide grades for different materials
- Cost advantages of different types of tooling i.e. single sided inserts verses double sided inserts
- First operation work holding methods
- Soft jaw machining for second operations
- Use of a face plate
- Turning between centres
Courses are priced per person per module, and all half day modules are available on a pick and mix basis to suit your company's needs. Dates are flexible and can be arranged upon booking.
