Machine Maintenance: Manual Lathe
This course is perfect for those with experience in a workshop environment, and basic machine operational knowledge of a manual or CNC lathe.
The half-day course takes place in collaboration with Colchester Machine Tool Solutions and combines theoretical learning and hands on instruction at the machine, and has been developed and delivered by an experienced shopfloor worker and qualified trainer with 40+ years of experience in CNC and manual milling and turning.
This module covers:
- Machine daily safety and maintenance - Check chuck guard, end guard door & foot break operate correctly, Stop start lever gate operated correctly, Daily lubrication points & Work holding mounted correctly
- Machine weekly checks - Apron oil filled to the correct level, Top slide strip
- Machine monthly checks - Drive belts tension adjustment, Tailstock lever clamp setting, Headstock oil filled to the correct level & Gearbox oil filled to the correct level
- Machine 6 monthly checks - Foot brake block adjustment, Cross slide strip adjustment, Cross slide screw backlash adjustment, Saddle front and rear strip adjustment & Saddle and tailstock wiper condition and setting
- Machine yearly checks - Spindle bearing preload adjustment
- Machine maintenance general - Shear pin replacement, Work holding cam lock adjustment
Courses are priced per person per module, and all half day modules are available on a pick and mix basis to suit your company's needs. Dates are flexible and can be arranged upon booking.
Delegate requirements: A minimum of 2, and a maximum of 6 delegates per module
