Trainee Machinist (CNC Turner/Miller)

Hours:

38 Hours per week

Monday-Thursday 8:00am to 4pm

Friday 8:00am to 2:30pm

Are you practical, hands-on and interested in engineering? Do you enjoy finding out how things work and take pride in producing high-quality work? Hydraulic System Products Ltd is looking for a motivated Trainee Machinist to join our growing manufacturing team. This is an excellent opportunity to learn the skills of a CNC and manual Miller/Turner while working alongside experienced engineers in a supportive environment. No previous machining experience is required, just the right attitude, willingness to learn and a strong work ethic.

What You'll Be Doing

What You'll Be Doing As a trainee, you'll receive structured on-the-job training and gradually develop the skills to: 

  • Operate CNC and manual milling and turning machines
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Measure components using precision measuring equipment
  • Produce high-quality precision-engineered parts
  • Set up tooling and work-holding equipment
  • Maintain high standards of quality and accuracy
  • Maintaining and handling raw material stocks
  • Carry out routine machine maintenance and housekeeping
  • Work safely and follow company procedures

As your skills develop, you'll take on more responsibility and progress towards becoming a fully skilled machinist.

Qualifications

One of the following would be beneficial but isn't essential:

  • GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above)
  • Engineering qualification (BTEC, NVQ, City & Guilds, T Level or similar)
  • Experience using tools or working in a workshop
  • A genuine interest in engineering or manufacturing
