What first motivated you to become a trustee of WYMS?
As a long-standing member of KITS, I was driven to preserve the valuable resource when it was threatened with closure.

What do you feel makes WYMS an important organisation to support?
It is an easily accessible & relevant support facility for SME’s in West Yorkshire

How does your professional background help you contribute to the charity’s goals?
As the MD of a small company, and being from an engineering & manufacturing background, I have first-hand experience of the challenges faced and support needed by exactly the type of businesses WYMS is aiming to help & represent.

What do you find most rewarding about being a trustee?
It was extremely rewarding to see WMYS rise from the ashes of KITS, but subsequently seeing it go from strength to strength and expand its scope and reach has been fulfilling.

How do you think the Board helps shape the future direction of WYMS?

As a varied board, we bring a whole host of different skillsets and perspectives, which, hopefully, enhance and support the wider team.

What impact do you hope to make through your involvement as a trustee?

To provide a conduit between WYMS and SME’s to help keep it relevant and maintain focus.

What would you say to someone considering becoming a trustee for a local charity?

It’s a great opportunity to contribute to the future direction of a fantastic cause
