Olympus Technologies in Huddersfield is a welding distributor and robot integrator, and supports a local and national customer base. We are seeking to recruit a Trade Counter & Stores Advisor to perform a varied role within the team. The role holder will take responsibility for a number of key areas of the business, so you are guaranteed a wide range of tasks to perform. Full training will be provided. The role is ideal for anyone looking to progress from a hands-on welding role to using their welding process experience within the industry. Role Specification

The role includes:

  • Trade Counter sales – including identifying and targeting new customers, constantly reviewing products sold and their pricing, all with the view of growing revenue and profit
  • Torch assessment and repairs
  • PAT Testing (following training)
  • Manual machinery demos
  • Preparation of sold machines and torches
  • Goods in / Despatch
  • Local deliveries
  • Opening up and closing up the buildings and site
  • Providing excellent service and support to customers, suppliers and work colleagues.
  • Good housekeeping of the site.
  • Complying with all Health and Safety procedures.
  • Acting as a positive ambassador for Olympus Technologies.

Person Specification

This role would be ideal for anyone wishing to progress from a hands on welding role to another role using their welding experience within the welding industry. However, all applications are welcome, as most importantly we are looking to find the right person to join and find their place within our team. We would love the successful applicant to have experience in as many of the desirable skills as possible, with the willingness to be trained and developed to acquire the additional technical skills.

Essential attributes:

  • Good welding industry/process knowledge
  • Excellent communicator, both face to face and written.
  • Enthusiasm, being prepared to work hard, and take pride in their ability to deliver high quality work.
  • Reliability; excellent time management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Competent IT literacy using computer based systems including knowledge of MS Office.
  • Values the team’s success as much as their own success.

Desirable attributes:

  • Hands-on welding experience
  • Experience of serving on a trade counter
  • Experience of managing their own workload, and prioritising the most important tasks.
  • Current, valid driving license with no pending disqualifications.
