How does your professional background help you contribute to the charity’s goals?
During my career, I’ve operated in most functions and at all levels - from Youth Training Scheme apprentice to Vice President of Global Operations and Managing Director. That experience has taught me how to solve specific challenges and turn them into opportunities. I bring that mindset to WYMS, helping the organisation strengthen its offer to manufacturers across the region.

What do you find most rewarding about being a trustee?
The potential to add value to the organisation and see it grow - at all levels: individuals, teams, and the business itself. It’s rewarding to see the work of WYMS flow out into the West Yorkshire region, strengthening the fantastic manufacturing base we have here.

How do you think the Board helps shape the future direction of WYMS?
By setting a clear strategic vision and ensuring the organisation stays true to its goals of supporting manufacturing excellence in West Yorkshire. We do this by identifying emerging skills and technology needs, guiding WYMS to adapt its training and business support, and ensuring resources are used effectively for the greatest impact.

What impact do you hope to make through your involvement as a trustee?
I hope to help WYMS strengthen its strategic focus and extend its reach across the manufacturing and engineering community in West Yorkshire. I’m enthusiastic about developing people and helping local businesses thrive - WYMS is uniquely placed to bridge the skills gap and support SMEs as they adapt to digital, automation, and sustainability challenges.
