Manual Milling: Introduction to Component Planning

This course is perfect for those with experience in a workshop environment, and basic machine operational knowledge of a manual or CNC Turret Mill.

The half-day course takes place in collaboration with Colchester Machine Tool Solutions and has been developed and will be delivered by a trainer with 40+ years of experience in CNC and manual milling and turning.

This Module covers:

• Assessing the component drawing - Size / Complexity / Tolerance, Any special tools or features required & Raw Material size and shape
• Breaking the component down in to detailed operations - Tying up where possible any geometric tolerancing, Ensuring other operations have enough material or strength to hold, Machining relationship between operation 1 and subsequent operations & Ensuring the operations are suitable for the equipment available
• Other considerations - Surface finish, Hardening and grinding, Distortion when unclamping, Other work holding requirements & Use of fixtures

Courses are priced per person per module, and all half day modules are available on a pick and mix basis to suit your company's needs. Dates are flexible and can be arranged upon booking.
